Greater Newport Area Chamber & Visitors Bureau

NEWPORT, WA- The Greater Newport Area Chamber of Commerce will be having their next General Members' Meeting on Tuesday, March 6th at 6pm in the PUD's Box Canyon Room, located at 130 N. Washington, in Newport, WA. 

Shirley Wagoner, an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with the Camas Center Clinic, and Donna Molvik from the Kalispel Tribe will be presenting on the wide variety of health care services that the Camas Center Clinic offers to the entire Pend Oreille Valley community. The Camas Center Clinic offers medical, chiropractic, dental, and mental health services, along with physical & aquatic therapy. The clinic is contracted as a preferred provider with insurance carriers in the service area and can bill Medicare, Medicaid and other health insurance companies.

We'll also have a brief presentation on Healthy Newport, how the Chamber is supporting this community coalition and the opportunities it will provide for members to both participate and promote their businesses.

The Board of Directors reviewed and considered the nominations received for each of the award categories and narrowed down the finalists in each category.  The competition was steep and we sincerely appreciate all the members who took the time to nominate worthy candidates.  But without further adieu, and in no particular order, the Finalists are …

We are thrilled to announce the four finalists for our 2011 Citizen of the Year award - Gayle Cagianut, Cindy Campbell, Robert Karr and Nancy Thompson.  One of the traits they all share is their unwavering willingness to keep working forward towards the betterment of our community, without need for recognition, praise or credit.  They simply "press on".  To that end, you may not know all that they've done for our community, so here is your opportunity to learn a little bit more about each one.  Before you cast your vote for 2011 Citizen of the Year, we encourage you to read (and be inspired by) the brief bios that we asked them to submit.

Please join us in extending a very warm welcome to our new Executive Director, Barry Seward.  Barry is experienced in website design, sales, publishing and online marketing.  Most recently, he was a researcher with Spokane Research Associates and an Internet Marketing Consultant with the BBB serving Eastern WA, Northern Idaho and Montana.  Barry has worked in large companies, guiding a staff as large as 25, as well as having owned his own.
